A huge thank you to all of you who braved the uncertain, sunny at times, weather to join us for our annual opening weekend!
Things are looking great and starting to walk out of the door! We have been making a tonne of Mother's Day gifts - come check them out! We have cute planters starting at $5 and ranging all the way up to $35. We also have tonnes of hanging baskets, herbs, tomatoes and more. Be sure to check us out to get a great gift for Mom! Off to the greenhouse for now! Herb update coming soon :) We have been busy, busy, busy!
This year's opening is Friday April 28th @ 10:00 am. Can't wait to see you this season! We have been very busy in the greenhouse the past 9 days. Over 45,000 seeds started (with more to come), 288 baskets made (and more to come) and starting on a few planters and special orders. We had a few very cold days, but hopefully the worst of it is behind us now as we prepare for opening day.
New to the greenhouse this year is garden seed! Pea Patch Gardens and Greenhouse has teamed up with OSC (Ontario Seed Company) to provide high quality seeds at reasonable prices. Watch for our online store to re-open! All seeds will be available to pick up at the greenhouse, or can be shipped via Canada Post. (We will also have small amounts of other seed available.) In addition to our basket/plant of the week (where we feature a particular basket, planter or plant for the week), we will go over some basics on how to grow the various plants we have at the greenhouse whether it be seeds, bedding plants, herbs, baskets, tomatoes or veggies. We believe that everyone should have the skills to grow their own food and this is an easy way for us to share what we know with you! As always, we will have our trusty standbys and a few new to us varieties. I will do a sneak peak as more things start to germinate and grow! We will be celebrating Canada's 150th birthday with a great selection of red and white plants, baskets and planters for your yard to show your spirit! Take care and watch for more updates on our website and our Facebook page! It's going to be a great season and it's time to get growing! https://www.facebook.com/PeaPatchGG I had more to type, but the power flickered and I seem to have lost my post. Will try to re-do later :) I haven't been the best blogger lately - what's new? In my defence, we have been busy at the greenhouse planting and transplanting and getting ready for our big opening weekend April 29 - YES - next week!! Yesterday was a huge day at the greenhouse, we finished transplanting the bedding plant petunias. 64 flats of petunias. Yes, you read that correctly - 64 flats of petunias. 3072 individual baby plants - and this does not include basket petunias already planted. Petunias require full sun - +6 hours a day. They are a fairly easy to grow plant - perfect for flower beds, planter boxes, and baskets.
Prices - 4 Pak $2.50 BEST DEAL - Full Flat (48 plants - mix and match any bedding plants) $20.00 Colours and Mixes are as above, if you would like to order (after April 29) please contact us or come out to the greenhouse. Some pics from the last 2.5 weeks - newest pictures first. The calendar says it's spring, and the trees seem to agree! It certainly looks like spring in the greenhouse!!
