Holy Moly - Can anyone tell me where May went??

Another busy month here at Pea Patch.   I thought I had better make a post so that you all knew we were still alive and kicking.  :)  Things are looking great (despite the cool, wet weather) and we are looking forward to Spring Fest next weekend!  If you happen to be in Strathmore on June 1st, we will be set up at the Curling Rink.

Last weekend was a busy one at the farm, MOST of the garden got planted as well as just shy of 1500 strawberry plants.  There were a few sore muscles on Sunday.  The kids kept themselves busy taking themselves for nature walks, seeing a few deer and some bones, and doing some planting with the rest of us.

I am so excited about this year's Dahlia crop!  The first couple are SOOOOO close to blooming, I think they already would be if it had been sunny the past few days.  I will be sure to share the pics with all of you when they finally do "pop".  Dahlias are great in the garden, their cheerful flowers keep coming in part-full sun.  I also like to put them in my big planters for a big display!  This year I have them in 6" pots and they are very reasonably priced at $4 per pot.  The variety is called "Garden Pride" and comes in a mix of colours including red, pink, orange, white and yellow.  It appears that the few that are opening may be slightly bi-coloured and that makes me even more excited to see these open!

For those of you who have been asking: YES, we are still planning a Veggie Box program!  We will be sending out a weekly availability list and you will be able to choose what you want and in what quantities - so prices will vary depending on your weekly order.  The garden is in (less a few packages of seeds that did not make it into the ground before the monsoon season started - but will be planted as soon as we can get back out there), and the Greenhouse Tomatoes are looking great and starting to bloom.  Cucumbers and peppers are still small - but I am okay with that as we are pressed for space right now!  If you don't want to miss the program when we start - please sign up for our newsletter or drop me a line and I will get you subscribed!

We still have a great variety of hanging baskets and planters, for best selection see us earlier rather than later as I can't guarantee we will have all of the colour selection after the next two weekends!  Our Perfectunia Orange baskets have been a huge hit and I think they will be the first basket we sell out of this season.

LAST CALL for green cabbage, napa cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower transplants!  We will be closing sales on these items shortly as they need to get planted!  If you are wanting any of these plants for your own garden, please place your order soon!  I imagine Gpa Bert will be itching to get them in the ground as soon we can get into the garden.  4 paks of all of the above are $2.25 and full flats (mix and match with any other 4 paks) are $24.00.

We are excited to say we are now using Square!  If you see us ringing in customers using our iPhones or iPads you are witnessing our leap into technology!  We can also accept Visa and Mastercard payments using our phones, which will certainly make deliveries more convenient for everyone.

I think that is all for now :)  To recap - if you or anyone you know wants to be in on the Veggie Box program - be sure to drop us a line.  I will be sending out updates via my fancy mailing system and I don't want to miss any of you.  As soon as we get close I will be sending out information.  Spring Fest is June 1st - come see us at the Strathmore Curling Rink.  Last call for Brassica transplants
